Pennsylvania sheriff warns of gun permit website scam
PITTSBURGH -- A sheriff is warning that a website promising to help Pennsylvanians apply and pay for concealed carry gun permits online is a scam.
Allegheny County Chief Deputy Kevin Kraus tells the Tribune-Review that concealcarryservices.com is fraudulent.
Kraus says the website claims to help people in Florida, Louisiana, Michigan and Wisconsin get permits, too, but says people can't register for permits online in Pennsylvania, and that the state doesn't involve third-party vendors in that process.

Richland Township police warn public about rise in crime
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP – After a series of robberies, Richland Township police said violent crime is on the rise in the area.
Authorities said residents are more likely to be confronted with a life-or-death situation.
Detective Kevin Gaudlip said it's best to be proactive because robberies happen unexpectedly.
He said people should ask themselves, “What would I do if I was robbed?”
He gave 6 News some recommendations for the public.
Ebensburg man accused of sending sexually explicit pictures to teens on Snapchat
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — State police say a 42-year-old Ebensburg man is accused of sending sexually explicit pictures of himself to two teenage girls on Snapchat.
According to multiple criminal complaints in the case, Andrew Brothers faces charges related to corruption of minors, disseminating explicit sexual material to a minor, and unlawful contact with a minor.
Troopers say they were called to a Patton Borough home in Cambria County Aug.
Kennywood's Steel Curtain roller coaster to remain closed
WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania amusement park says its newest and biggest attraction will remain closed with no timetable for opening.
Kennywood Park near Pittsburgh says crews "are continuing work on some adjustments" to the Steel Curtain, which has been closed since Saturday.
The 4,000-foot-long coaster contains nine inversions, which park officials say is the most in North America, and the world's tallest inversion at 197 feet.
Penn State tight end Theo Johnson declares for NFL Draft
University Park, PA (WJAC) — Penn State tight end Theo Johnson announced on social media Friday that he will declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.
The fourth-year junior has played in 44 career games with the Nittany Lions, hauling in 75 receptions for 922 yards and 11 touchdowns.
While Johnson has found success on the field as one of Penn State's premiere pass catchers, he also made headlines off the field for his alleged involvement in an altercation at a fraternity party in February.

ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) — After a two-year absence and less than three months into her return to competition, Simone Biles isback at the top of world gymnastics once again.
The American superstar won the individual all-around title at the world championships for the sixth time on Friday to become the most decorated gymnast in history.
Ten years after she won her first in the same Belgian city as a 16-year-old, Biles scored 58.
2 killed, 5 others injured in shooting during private party
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting during a private party at a Texas events center.
Just before 1 a.m., Amarillo police were called to a shopping center near SW 45th Avenue and Georgia Street.
According to police, a fight broke out amongst some of the attendees. Sometime during the fight, someone started shooting. Seven people were shot at Quinn’s Events located at 4515 S Georgia Street.
