Wartman-White out for another season

UNIVERSITY PARK - Fifth-year senior linebacker Nyeem Wartman-White will miss the rest of the season after suffering what appeared to be another knee injury against Temple. The exact injury was undisclosed by the team. Wartman-White fell down during a Penn State punt on Saturday after his right leg appeared to buckle. He later returned to the sidelines on crutches with a brace around his right leg. This will be Wartman-White's second year in a row missing a season due to injury.

'Tech savvy' Cresson man admits to viewing, selling child porn images on Twitter, PSP says

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Cambria County say a Cresson man is facing charges following a months-long child pornography investigation that spanned multiple states. According to the affidavit, investigators were first contacted after officers with the Tampa Police Department discovered an Internet Dropbox containing multiple files of suspected child pornography. Police say the images and videos, 8 in total, all depicted young boys engaging in various sexual acts.

Coroner IDs victim of fatal crash on Route 322

2nd UPDATE |Centre Co., PA (WJAC) — Centre County coroner Scott Sayers has identified the victim of Wednesday's fatal crash on Route 322 in the Boalsburg area. Authorities say 67-year-old Toni Freeman, of Bellefonte, was killed when her SUV crossed into the opposite lane of travel and struck a tractor-trailer head-on. Sayers says Freeman suffered blunt force trauma to the head and her death has been ruled accidental. The crash closed a section of the Mounty Nittany Expressway for several hours.

Sheetz aims for Ebensburg liquor license, worrying business owners

EBENSBURG -- After canceling a public hearing on its attempts to get a liquor license here, Sheetz is causing local beer sellers to worry that they might soon see a dip in sales. Sheetz, which recently acquired a liquor license in Carrolltown, said Tuesday it is looking to start selling beer and wine at any of its stores that it can. For local business owners who have to compete with Sheetz, though, that could spell disaster.

Somerset man jailed, accused of soliciting sexual photos from girls via Snapchat

Somerset Co., PA (WJAC) — Authorities say a Somerset man has been charged for allegedly paying for nude photos and videos from two minor girls. Police say that, starting in January of 2022, 21-year-old Anthony Latuch allegedly paid more than $1,000 to the girls for sexual material over the messaging app Snapchat. Police say that Latuch also had sex with one of the girls at his South Kimberly Avenue apartment.

Suspect in IUP shots fired incident pleads guilty

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — Authorities in Indiana County say the suspect responsible for causing an officer-involved shots fired incident last year at an area university has pleaded guilty in the case. Last October, police arrested Cameron Raubaugh following an investigation into an officer-involved incident in the parking lot of IUP's George P. Miller Stadium. Police say Raubaugh reportedly called 911 and falsely reported a robbery in the parking lot.

Dr. Rachel Levine sworn in as first openly transgender 4-star admiral

WASHINGTON (WJAC) — Former Pennsylvania Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine was officially sworn into the U.S. Public Health Services Commissioned Corps Tuesday. This makes her the first openly transgender four-star officer in the Uniformed Services and the first female four-star admiral. Levine was nominated and confirmed as the Assistant Health Secretary for the U.S. Department of Health and Human services March of this year. She says she is deeply honored and grateful to join the ranks of men and women who serve our nation.
