DeSantis declares a state of emergency for 12 Florida counties hit by storms
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WPEC) — Twelve northern Florida counties were placed under a state of emergency following Thursday night’s intense storms that swept through the region.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed the order Friday, citing the significant damage to the state’s infrastructure caused by strong winds and possible tornadoes.
DeSantis’ office noted thousands of people in northern Florida lost power overnight and are dealing with significant damage caused by the rain, winds and falling trees.
Ohio school board member gives Nazi salute to board president during meeting

The gesture came as school board members for Tipp City Schools (TCS), located just outside Dayton, discussed recent district projects. Simon Patry, who resigned as TCS school board president at the end of Tuesday's meeting, was speaking on transparency when board member Anne Zakkour attempted to interject.
Video shows road rage incident before trooper fatally shoots man in Washington state
EVERETT, Wash. (KOMO) — A Washington State Patrol (WSP) trooper shot and killeda man armed with a hammer who was involved in a “road rage incident," according to authorities. The Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) said troopers responded to the road rage incident on the shoulder of Interstate 5 near Marine View Drive in Everett just after 4 p.m. Thursday.
SMART spokesperson Courtney O'Keefe said the man had rammed a Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) contractor vehicle and a lift that was on the shoulder of the highway.

New Jersey man arrested in stabbing at Solomon Homes
JOHNSTOWN - A New Jersey man accused of stabbing another man in Solomon Homes earlier this month has been arrested.
Police said George Jackson, 28, of Jersey City was arrested Saturday night at Solomon Homes after they responded there on an unrelated call.
He is charged with aggravated assault and robbery and is in jail on $250,000 bond.
Police issued a warrant for Jackson's arrest on May 6, two days after they said he stabbed Stephen Jones twice and stole his cell phone in building 12 at Solomon Homes.
New video shows murder convict Danelo Cavalcante escaping Pennsylvania prison
WASHINGTON (TND) — Newly released video from Chester County Prison in Pennsylvania shows a murder convict scaling a wall to escape the facility. The footage was made public Wednesday, which marked seven days since 34-year-old Danelo Cavalcante has been at large. He escaped on August 31 shortly after 8:50 a.m. In the video, Cavalcante is seen standing near a doorway between two walls in the prison's outdoor exercise yard. He then starts crab-walking between the two walls, his hands on one wall and his feet on the other, while parallel to the ground.
Surveillance video released after truck slams right into UniMart store in Centre County

In the video from the Howard store's surveillance cameras, you can see the truck plowing through the front of the building without warning.

Bottle Works to feature exhibit honoring local comic book artist
JOHNSTOWN, Pa (WJAC) — An eight-week retrospective exhibition featuring the work of Steve Ditko opened Thursday at Bottle Works in Johnstown.
Ditko was born and raised locally, and is the co-creator of Spider-Man, creator of Dr. Strange and countless other comic book icons.
The exhibition will be open until September 11th and will feature work from his early years and throughout his career.
