Clearfield County Fair Returns After 2020 Hiatus

CLEARFIELD COUNTY, PA — The Clearfield County Fair made it’s long-awaited return today after having to cancel in 2020. The full complement of rides, food and fun were back once again. The President of the fair, David Franson, says they’re excited to come back after a period of tough times. “We’re so happy to be back and be able toput the fair on again this year,” he exclaimed. “It was a rough year for everybody, especially in the community, and we’re just glad to be back and be able to provide something fun for the community.

Fireworks allowed until 1 a.m. this weekend, according to Pennsylvania state law

Although the Fourth of July fireworks are over, firework celebrations this summer are not! Earlier this week, 6 News spoke with Officer Sean Kisel with the Richland Township Police Department who says according to state law - fireworks can be set off until 1 a.m. this weekend. “We just follow with state statute as to the fireworks laws,” said Officer Kisel. And because of this state firework law, it would not be uncommon to hear fireworks around our region into the early morning hours Friday and Saturday.

Johnstown doctor sentenced to house arrest for former patient's fatal overdose

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — A Cambria County doctor was sentenced Monday for the role investigators say he played in the death of a former patient. Authorities say 65-year-old Richard Green, of Windber, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of involuntary manslaughter in October. They say he also pleaded guilty to violating the “provider prohibited acts” section of Title 62 of the Pennsylvania Crimes Code. Green was originally charged with one count of Drug Delivery Resulting in Death; one count of Delivery by Practitioner in violation of the Controlled Substances, Drug, Device and Cosmetic Act; one count of Involuntary Manslaughter, and related charges, according to investigators.

Paint Township disbands police department

PAINT TOWNSHIP - A Somerset County police department recently shut down and now it's up to state police to keep the streets safe. Paint Township supervisor Lewis Clark said the decision was officially made to disband the department after the last police officer resigned in the past week. Clark said this wasn't a personnel issue or a union issue. He said this was a financial decision to discontinue the police department.

Rural decline and urban growth projected by 2050

Pennsylvania’s population is expected to decline in the coming decades. The Center for Rural Pennsylvania along with the Pennsylvania State Data Center held a press conference on Wednesday in Harrisburg to discuss recent findings about the future of the commonwealth’s population – projecting data from 2020 to 2050. “In brief, populations in Pennsylvania will experience significant change in the coming decades," said Dr. Kyle Kopko, the Center for Rural Pennsylvania's Executive Director during the conference.

At least 22 dead after fire breaks out at amusement park in India: Authorities

NEW DELHI (AP) — A massive fire broke out Saturday in an amusement park in Gujarat state in western India, killing at least 22 people, including several children, police said. The fire erupted at the park in the city of Rajkot in Gujarat state. Police Commissioner Raju Bhargava said the blaze was under control and a rescue operation was underway. Police officer Vinayak Patel confirmed the death of 22 people in the fire incident.

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — On Tuesday, when Governor Wolf’s disaster declaration ended it put an end to ways restaurants and bars were able to stay afloat over the last year. Fetterman working from hospital, meets with staff to discuss Senate business

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is still taking care of Senate business while undergoing treatment for depression. Senator Fetterman met with his Chief of Staff at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on Monday, where he is being treated. In a tweet, Adam Jentleson shared photos of their meeting. PSP gives update on Mifflintown shootout that left one Trooper dead, another injured

DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa. (WHP) — Pennsylvania State Police have released more details about a deadly shooting that took place Saturday that killed one trooper and injured another. They say the suspect was also killed. In a press conference Sunday afternoon, it was announced that the incident began around 11 a.m. in Juniata County at the Lewistown Barracks. State police said a 2008 Chevrolet pickup registered to Brandon Stine, 38, was observed to be driving through the parking lot of the barracks before getting out of his vehicle and firing several rounds from a long rifle into marked patrol cars before getting back into his vehicle and driving away.

Woman drove dead boyfriend to gas station, called police

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WJAC) — Police said four people are facing charges after they said a man overdosed in a car, was moved to a house, moved back to the car and driven to a gas station. The criminal complaint said Jada Ferguson was traveling with her boyfriend, Michael Vivian, and Chelsea Mehalick to Williamsport to buy heroin. According to court documents, on the way back on I-80 near Snow Shoe, Michael Vivian became unresponsive in the car and appeared to be dead.
