Tyrone baseball captures gold, Ligonier Valley softball falls just short
UNIVERSITY PARK -- The PIAA baseball and softball championships rolled into Happy Valley Thursday.
On the baseball diamond, Tyrone captured a state championship with a 5-0 defeat of Oley Valley.
In softball, Ligonier Valley's historic run fell just short with a 1-0 loss in extra innings to Line Mountain.

CHICAGO (TND) — Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson will revisit plans to host migrants in a popular city park field house, representatives of his office told Austin Weekly News this week.
The city is reportedly weighing housing up to 200 migrants at Amundsen Park for six months. The park is located in Chicago's Austin neighborhood.
Alderman Chris Taliaferro (29th) was “blindsided,” WBBM reported, when he initially received word of the plans. The alderman had warned just one week prior that the city’s handling of its growing migrant crisis would cause tensions to rise between Black and Latino residents.

Man charged after missing woman's body found in refrigerator
MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (WJAC) — Allegheny County police say a man has been charged with abuse of a corpse after a missing woman's body was found in a refrigerator inside a McKees Rocks apartment building.
Police identified the body as 38-year-old Kristy Jefferson. She was reported missing April 29. Jefferson's body was found in an apartment building along Helen Street around 9:45 a.m. Sunday.
Residents in the building told police they smelled a foul odor coming from a refrigerator that was sitting in the hallway.
New Mount Nittany Health practice opens in Philipsburg
PHILIPSBURG – Mount Nittany Health announced the opening of its new Philipsburg practice on Monday.
The practice is located at 1061 North Front Street.
The new location offers 12 family medicine practice exam rooms, an outpatient lab and space for a future radiology suite.
It will also provide several specialty services, beginning with Christopher Yingling, MD, urology, Mount Nittany Physician Group. Future services will include cardiology, infectious disease, endocrinology and nephrology.

Community in mourning after boy, 9, found dead in New Kensington
PITTSBURGH (WPXI) — One western Pennsylvania community is devastated after a 9-year-old boy was found dead Wednesday.
On Thursday night, hundreds in the East Ken Manor community came together to remember their late neighbor, 9-year-old Azuree Charles.
“He was honestly a super nice person, and I can’t believe someone would do that to him,” one of his friends said.
The news also hit Azuree's 3rd grade teacher especially hard.
