1 taken to hospital after rattlesnake bite in Somerset County, 911 says
LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WJAC) — Officials say one person was taken to the hospital Friday afternoon after being bitten by a rattlesnake in Somerset County.
Emergency dispatchers say the snake attack happened near the intersection of Maggie and Hall Springs roads in Lincoln Township around 12:30 p.m.
The condition of the victim is unknow at this time but officials say the individual was taken to Somerset Hospital.
Pennsylvania is home to two species of rattlesnake: The Eastern massasauga and the timber rattlesnake.
Alaska Airlines uniforms through the decades
PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) – After nearly two years of design work, Alaska Airlines will reveal its new West Coast-inspired uniform collection for its 23,000 employees at a Fashion show in Seattle Thursday night.
Seattle couture designer Luly Yang is the brain behind the new looks.
The new uniforms will undergo a 60-day wear test by employees from Alaska, Horizon Air and Virgin America. These employees include pilots, flight attendants, customer service agents and lounge concierges.
Illinois lawmakers end session without addressing a Chicago Bears stadium
(TCS) — The Chicago Bears will have to wait on public assistance for a new stadium project.
The Illinois legislature, which ended spring session early Wednesday, won’t act on anything regarding a new Bears stadium until this fall at the earliest, if at all.
The Bears unveiled the project in April with a $4.7 billion price tag, which included a domed stadium and surrounding infrastructure. Illinois taxpayers would be asked to cover about $2 billion.
Last minute 'touch-ups' underway at new baseball field ahead of Bellefonte home opener
BELLEFONTE, Pa. (WJAC) — Last minute “touch-ups” are underway at the John Montgomery Ward Field at Governor’s Park in Bellefonte, in anticipation of the high school varsity baseball home opener on Tuesday.
After several months, the project's nearing completion. Wednesday saw the Bellefonte varsity baseball team practice on the new field for the first time.
The project also bringing along new dugouts, a new press box, new fencing along the first and third base sidelines, and a new drainage system.

Community Arts Center of Cambria County puts on outdoor play
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — The show must go on at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County. Despite most activities being done 6-feet apart and with a mask the community arts center will be putting on a play, but with a twist to keep everyone safe.
Actors will perform The Prisoner of Second Avenue written by Neil Simon outside of the community arts center to allow for social distancing.
Johnstown native Geroy Simon headed for Canadian Football Hall of Fame
Johnstown native Geroy Simon got the call for the hall.
Simon, nicknamed “Superman,” learned Wednesday that he will be part of the class for the 2017 Canadian Football Hall of Fame in September.
“I’m both grateful and tremendously proud to be selected by the Canadian Football Hall of Fame for this incredible honor,” Simon said on the BC Lions website.
“Receiving the call from CFL Commissioner (Jeffrey) Orridge a short time ago will be one of the fondest memories of my football career.
Officials identify victim of deadly Cambria Township crash
UPDATE #2CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WJAC) — Authorities have identified the man killed in a crash Friday afternoon in Cresson Township.
Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees says 84-year-old George Pastirko of Ebensburg was driving in Cambria Township when his car collided with another occupied by two juveniles.
Lees says the cause of death is multiple sources of blunt force trauma as Pastirko was not wearing his seatbelt.
One of the juveniles was injured.
The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced they have signed right-handed pitcher Quinn Priester, the 18th overall selection in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft. The announcement was made by Pirates Executive Vice President, General Manager Neal Huntington along with Senior Director of Scouting, Joe DelliCarri.
The 18-year-old Priester posted an 8-2 record, a 1.00 ERA and 91 strikeouts in 60.1 innings as a senior this year at Cary-Grove High School in Cary, Illinois.
Slain pregnant Amish woman had cuts to her head and neck, Pennsylvania police say
SPARTANSBURG, Pa. (AP) — Search warrant filings for the Pennsylvania home where a pregnant Amish woman was killed this week said she appeared to have suffered cutting wounds to her neck and head.
Two search warrants were issued at the request of state police regarding Monday's slaying of Rebekah A. Byler, 23. Her body was found in the living room of her home a few miles from Spartansburg.
The slaying shocked the rural community in northwestern Pennsylvania, where people say the Amish, who restrict the use of technology and are known for their traditional clothing, get on well with non-Amish in the area.
