Boalsburg's annual Memorial Day celebration is canceled due to the pandemic, officals say
BOALSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — In Boalsburg, the home of Memorial Day, the annual celebration to commemorate the day, is canceled this year due to the pandemic.
The Boalsburg Fire Company's carnival is also canceled.
Plans call for a virtual, online celebration with live streaming of the traditional events held in Boalsburg on Memorial Day.
Memorial Day in Boalsburg dates back to 1864 when three women decorated the graves of Civil War veterans in the town cemetery.
Former Steelers LB Robert Spillane signs 2-year deal with Raiders
According to multiple reports, former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Robert Spillane has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders.
The deal is reportedly worth $9 million, with $4 million guaranteed.

Johnstown group interested in naming rights for Point Stadium
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - Point Stadium in Johnstown may be getting a new name.
According to the June 13 Johnstown City Council meeting agenda, a resolution is on the table for the naming rights to go to Sargent's Group Inc.
Last August, 1st Summit Bank bought the naming right to the Cambria County War Memorial for $720,000 over 10 years.
The naming rights for Point Stadium is not expected to net that high of a number.
Youth headphone use increases risk of hearing loss, study reveals
Much of the younger population maybe at risk of hearing loss.
That’s according to the results of a study done within the University of Michigan -- by the C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital National Poll on children’s health.
The study adds that the main factor of this hearing loss issue within younger populations comes from earbuds -- like the popular air pods and other headphones.
The study also shows that 64 percent of parents reported their child uses some type of earbud or headphone and 74 percent believe it is fine — as the volume is not too high.
Blair Co. man accused of buying teen boy 'vape pods' in exchange for sexual favors
BLAIR COUNTY, Pa (WJAC) — State police say a Blair County man is behind bars following a lengthy investigation into allegations that he engaged in a "sexual relationship" with a teenage boy for several years.
According to the affidavit, troopers were first notified in 2021 that Steven Lane, now age 71, of Williamsburg, was reportedly having inappropriate contact with a teenager.

First eaglet hatches in PA Farm Country Nest
One of the eaglets in the PA Farm Country Eagle Nest hatched Wednesday morning, the Pennsylvania Game Commission announced.
The eggs were laid back in February.
The game commission has partnered with HDOnTAP and Comcast Business to provide a live look at the eagles' nest, nuzzled high up in a sycamore tree in Pennsylvania farmland.
The Game Commission says at least one of the other eggs is pipping, or beginning to hatch, so we’ll likely see another eaglet Wednesday or Thursday.

Johnstown man dies from injuries in bicycle crash
BEDFORD CO, Pa (WJAC) — State police in Bedford County say a Johnstown man died Monday after suffering severe injuries in a bicycle crash.
Troopers say 78-year-old Maynard Witherell was riding his bike along Main Road in Colerain Township Monday afternoon when the chain on the bicycle broke, causing him to crash.
Investigators say Mr. Witherell fell off the bike and hit his head, resulting in him being flown to Conemaugh Hospital.
Police respond to shooting in Harrisburg
DAUPHIN COUNTY, Pa (WHP) — Two people are dead and several others injured after a shooting in Harrisburg Tuesday night.
According to police, officers responded to the first block of South 15th Street around 8:30 p.m. for reports of a shooting.
When they arrived on scene, officers found two men and a woman with gunshot wounds.
The victims were taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.
Both men later died from their wounds.
